[Soekris] Sluggish network performance w/ Soekris + FreeBSD 4.8R

I did some tests. The problem only occurs when I use the Linksys
PCMCIA card as the external interface. If I use sis0 or sis1 as the RR
interface, the problem goes away. I get linespeed from the Linksys card
internally.

Here are the results of my tests:

External interface    	Download speed 		CPU usage 	Mem free
sis0			250 K/s			8%		41mb
ed0			71 K/s			16%		39mb

Any thoughts / ideas? I checked to make sure it was identifying as a
16-bit card (and not an 8-bit for whatever reason) and it is. For now, my
solution was to just use the Linksys card as an internal interface - but
if possible, I'd like to divine why the problem was occuring.
