"network optimization".... for a 486, I suppose.
But I've seen 21 interfaces in a Sun Ultra and
13 in a PC and it worked just fine.


And each autonomous system costs to maintain.
I can run a 16CPU machine for less than I can run
16 x 1 CPU machines.  Acquisition is another story,
but maintainance has to be factored.

But then, I look at a bunch of Windows users (very high
costs to maintain, even with cheaper personel) and I see
a lot of people with full machines who'd do just fine with
an XTerminal and some productivity tools, all attached to
a big 4 or 8 way machine in the back.

Blew up your preferences?  fine, I'll rsync them back from
the Netapp's snapshot from last week.  Or put the initial ones
back.
