[Soekris] using ttyS0 for upsd on net4501

Hi All,

I am trying to configure upsd (from Belkin) to use/dev/ttyS0 on net4501.
I am using Linux 2.4.20. The upsd does not detect the ups connected to
the ttyS0. I am not running serial console on ttyS0. Although, if
configured, the console works through ttyS0. I am wondering if there are
any specfic settings on the BIOS of net4501 that makes it impossible to
use ttyS0 for any other purpose other than console? Any tips would be
appreciated.
