[Soekris] Linux Access Point - Hardware Recommendations Needed

Greetings everyone:

I am considering putting together an experimental "access point" for
home use. I am leaning towards the following
components and seeking advice about the advantages/dis-advantages
involved:

a. Soekris net4501 (since net4521 is not in stock. Which is easier to
configure/manage, net4501 or net4521 for Linux?)
b. D-Link DWL-520 PCI card (Does the case have to be drilled to fit the
antenna? Will it work under Linux?)
c. Standard linux distribution with "host AP" driver support

I tried digging the archives for 'howto' but could not find any. Was
wondering if someone who has
performed the above can provide details about the steps involved.

All help is appreciated.

with regards,

Bobby Sardana.
